This is the first Dope Award for Fathom.
The “Power to Make A Difference” web portal was created to help the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund elevate awareness in the state about the importance of finding clean energy sources. Fathom designed and developed the website in close partnership with Connecticut Innovations, the administrator of CCEF.
"Our enhanced, interactive online presence is helping to pique the interest of our target audiences, boosting inquiries from businesses, organizations and homeowners,” said Lise Dondy, president of CCEF. “Through our new website, visitors can see clean energy technologies in motion. It’s a terrific educational tool for students and the public in general to learn about clean energy technologies.”
The Dope Awards are given to websites and online interactive work that receive high marks on personality and impact (30%), design and graphics (25%), navigation and usability (25%) and originality (10%). As a “Site of the Month” winner, the website is also a finalist for “Site of the Year” which will be announced in 2010.
“Developing three-dimensional environments, as opposed to photography, helped us better illustrate the benefits and inner workings of each clean energy source. I tried to envision what an elementary school student might ask when looking at models . . . after all, they are the future target market,” said Jonathan Abel, lead designer for the project.
