Fathom and 454 Life Sciences, a Roche Company, Develop Innovative Website

A revolutionary new sequencing platform from 454 Life Sciences, a Roche Company, is launching in 2010 with a dedicated website designed and built by Hartford-based Fathom. The product, the GS Junior System, addresses the growing demand for next-generation sequencing tools for biological and medical research in small to medium sized laboratories.

“This truly enabling technology is now affordable for nearly every research lab. The online presence Fathom has created for the GS Junior will be an important tool in marketing this advanced technology,” said Ulrich Schwoerer, Head of Global Marketing at 454 Life Sciences.

According to 454 Life Sciences, the GS Junior System makes next-generation sequencing readily available to the individual researcher, just as the PC brought computing to the masses. To complement the revolutionary technology, Fathom developed a dedicated online website that showcases the product's features and research capabilities.

"Working with the 454 Life Sciences team, we built an online presence that provides labs with a way to virtually interact with the features of the technology before bringing it in-house. The technology required more than stationary web pages to show the innovation and true product value," said David Louden, Fathom President and CEO.

The affordable bench top GS Junior System, which is no bigger than a typical laser printer, has performance and features tuned to fit the needs of small to medium sized laboratories. The technology brings gene sequencing capabilities to individual researcher, increasing opportunities for advancements in biological and clinical research beyond the larger labs.

While launching the new GS Junior System for smaller labs, 454 continues to extend the performance of the company's flagship Genome Sequencer FLX System. Fathom and 454 are in current discussions to continue partnering on future marketing initiatives for the GS Junior System or other projects.
