Fathoms Brent Robertson Panelist At CT Bar Foundation Symposium

Hartford, CT – Fathom’s President and Chief Creative Officer, Brent Robertson, joined law and technology experts for the Connecticut Bar Foundation’s day long symposium, “Flash Forward or Lost: How Technology is Changing the Practice of Law, and What’s Next?” April 9 at the University of Connecticut School of Law. The symposium was offered at no charge and broadcasted live for audiences outside the region.

“It’s not only important to understand how to utilize the latest tools and methodologies new technologies allow, its about understanding the fundamental change they represent. We are living in an unprecedented time of the shifting of power where the crowd holds the key,” said Robertson. “It’s critical to learn how to bring your value into this new equation. The best part is, the value is in the individual and the world wants to connect to that value.”

For the panel discussion titled, “What’s Your Avatar? How Social Media Is Changing the Way We Work and How We Take Advantage Of It,” Robertson was joined by Kevin O’Keefe, Chief Operating Officer of LexBlog in Seattle, WA., and N. Kane Bennett, Partner, Raymond & Bennett, LLC of Glastonbury, CT. Other session topics ranged from the evolution of ethics, redefining the lawyer-client relationship through technology and incorporating the use of LinkedIn and other tools into a daily routine.

“The Connecticut Bar Foundation understands that technology has already changed how we practice law. This symposium helped shed light on how some attorneys are successfully leveraging the new tools and how others can navigate these exciting but daunting times,” said Daniel A. Schwartz, Member, Pullman & Comley, LLC and the symposium’s Committee Chair.

The symposium was sponsored by the Connecticut Law Tribune, Brandon Smith Reporting & Video LLC and Pullman & Comley LLC and held from 8am to 4pm on April 9, 2010 at the UConn School of Law’s William F. Starr Hall.

The Connecticut Bar Foundation drew about 100+ law professionals in attendance. The live webcast of the symposium was courtesy of Brandon Smith Reporting & Video, for those who could not attend in person.
