In the fall of 2010, Mike Marques approached the National MS Society, CT Chapter about producing a body of work which would show the affects of MS on a local level. Not having a direct connection to MS, Mike insisted on meeting all of his subjects before photographing them to best convey their story. After 3 years in production, Mike produced close to 50 portraits and revealed all the images as a collection to create a bigger impact.
Through this experience, Mike had a clearer picture of what he wanted to bring to the table. Photographers are communicators, problem solvers, creative directors, and most importantly – collaborators.
They have a responsibility to best understand their clients intentions and to voice any concerns that could compromise the integrity of the visuals. Regardless of your medium, having a fully formed concept before the start of any effort is the key to producing content that matters.
Join us as Mike shares his personal experiences and the principals he applies to push his narrative both inside and outside the studio.
